TAMPA THEATRE CELEBRATES 30 YEARS

After Missing Year 29 During COVID, Tampa’s Nonprofit Movie Palace
Brings Back a Lineup of Favorite Films PLUS Additional Show Times!

TAMPA, Fla. (May 10, 2021) – Tampa film fans know that when it comes to beloved classics, there is no more authentic way to watch them than in a majestic movie palace. For 30 years, the community has flocked to Tampa Theatre on hot Sunday afternoons to enjoy Summer Classics as they were meant to be seen: on the big screen, with a bag of fresh popcorn and a cold drink in hand, as a shared, community experience.

Last summer, with Tampa Theatre closed during the pandemic, the 29th annual Summer Classics series did not happen. This year, as people start to return to their favorite leisure activities again, we hope that this year’s lineup of all-time favorite Summer Classics – along with our reduced capacity and other safety precautions – may encourage our friends and fans to make their post-shutdown “First Movie Back” a classic at Tampa Theatre.

And to make that first trip back to the movies even easier to plan, Tampa Theatre is doing something our guests have often asked about – offering each Summer Classic more than once! Tickets Now on Sales to See Nikki Glaser at Tampa Theatre Nov 5

This just in from our Bloggy Friends over at Tampa Theatre:

ONE NIGHT WITH NIKKI GLASER TOUR

Coming Live to Tampa Theatre!

Tickets Go On Sale Friday, May 7 for the November 5 Show

TAMPA, Fla. (May 4, 2021) – Tampa Theatre and AEG Presents are proud to announce that comedian Nikki Glaser is making Tampa Theatre a stop on her One Night With Nikki Glaser Tour at 7:00pm Friday, November 5.

Nikki Glaser is one of the funniest female voices in comedy today. For over a decade at clubs across the country and as the host of three hit podcasts, she has been honing her shockingly- honest, no-holds barred style of comedy. Her brand new daily show, “The Nikki Glaser Podcast,” launched March 2021 through iHeartMedia. It is a daily companion podcast that is peppered with Glaser’s sense of humor and honesty to help keep listeners sane, well-informed and laughing through life.

Nikki has multiple stand-up specials and late-night TV appearances in which she jokes about her most humiliating moments as a woman in the modern world. Nikki’s past and current struggles with anorexia, depression, and anxiety are fair game in both her stand-up, and in in-depth interviews with THE HOWARD STERN SHOW, WTF WITH MARC MARON and JOE ROGAN. She has become a complete open book on mic - and not just for the laughs, she’s also adamant on being the empowering voice for women that she yearned for as a young, confused, adolescent herself.

Tickets go on sale at 10:00am Friday, May 7. This show features standard and Platinum ticket pricing. Standard Tickets are $39.50 plus applicable fees ($44.50 total at the Box Office & $48.50 total online) Platinum prices are variable.

Tampa Theatre Announces 2021 Return of In-Person Summer Filmmaking Camp

Registration for Sell-Out Kids Program Opens TODAY for Theatre Members; April 23 for General Public

TAMPA, Fla. (April 14, 2021)
 – Last summer, Tampa Theatre’s historic auditorium remained dark as its popular Summer Film Camp went virtual in response to the pandemic. This summer, though, the majestic movie palace will light up once more as young filmmakers come together again, in person, to produce their visions on the big screen, thanks to presenting sponsor Film Tampa Bay and our long-time partners, the Florida Center for Instructional Technology at the USF College of Education.

Campers entering grades 3-12 will work in small groups to learn the creative process of digital filmmaking, from brainstorming, storyboarding, and scriptwriting to filming, lighting and editing. All of the necessary equipment is provided, including cameras, lights, sound equipment, Mac computers and software. By the end of the week, each production team will have a 3-5 minute movie to premiere for friends and family.

This summer, both the live-action and stop-motion animation camps will be offered:

·        Week of June 14-18: Half-Day Live Action

·        Week of June 21-25: Half-Day Stop Motion Animation

·        Week of July 12-16: Half-Day Live Action

·        Week of July 19-23: Half-Day Live Action

HALF-DAY LIVE ACTION FILMMAKING CAMP makes the campers the stars as they write, produce and act in their own short films. The one-week program of half-day sessions will be offered Monday-Friday the weeks of June 14-18 and July 12-16 and 19-23. The morning session from 9:00am-noon is for students entering grades 3-6, and the afternoon session from 1:00-4:00pm is for those entering grades 7-12. Each session is $195 per camper, which includes a camp T-shirt, daily snacks and a digital copy of the finished films. Participation is capped at 18 campers per session, and COVID-prevention protocols will be enforced.*

HALF-DAY STOP-MOTION ANIMATION FILMMAKING CAMP shows campers how to create an animated film one frame at a time with clay, Legos, paper and other materials in a style of animation made popular by Wallace and Gromit and SOUTH PARK.
