OSCAR® NOMINEE SHOWCASE OFFERS CHANCE TO SEE AWARD HOPEFULS ON THE BIG SCREEN

Tampa’s Nonprofit Movie Palace is Packing April Weekends with Best Picture, Actor, Actress, Director, Screenplay & Short Film Nominees

TAMPA, Fla. (March 25, 2021) – The Academy is gearing up for an OSCAR® night unlike any in its 93-year history, but more troubling to many cinephiles than a lack of red-carpet revelry is the pandemic-prompted lack of opportunity to see the top contenders on the big screen over the past year.


Encouraged by the success of its reopening film The Father (itself nominated for six OSCARS® including Best Picture, Actor, Actress, and Adapted Screenplay), Tampa Theatre is ripping open the envelope to announce a month-long OSCAR® Nominee Showcase, leading up to the historic theatre’s 22nd annual Hollywood Awards Night celebration on Sunday, April 25.


Along with The Father, the OSCAR® Nominee Showcase will feature special screenings of all eight Best Picture nominees and a majority of the films nominated for Best Actor, Actress, Director and Screenplay, plus the return of the popular OSCAR®-nominated Short Films programs:

• Promising Young Woman – 7:30pm Thursday, April 1
• Nomadland – 3:30pm Saturday, April 3
• Sound of Metal – 7:30pm Thursday, April 8
• Minari – 3:45pm Saturday, April 10
• Judas and the Black Messiah – 7:30pm Thursday, April 15
• Mank – 3:30pm Saturday, April 17
• The Trial of the Chicago 7 – 7:30pm Thursday, April 22
• Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom – 4:00pm Saturday, April 24
• Live Action Short Films – Four show times, April 2-24
• Animated Short Films – Six show times, April 3-23
• Documentary Short Films – Four show times, April 4-18

Tickets for OSCAR® Nominee Showcase screenings are $13.50 (Evening) and $11.50 (Matinee), and are available at tampatheatre.org/movie-categories/oscar-nominee-showcase/. As a reminder, Tampa Theatre is limiting attendance and requiring temperature checks and masks for entry as we safely reopen.
